Further notes. Register texture worth noticing: several changes push TOWARD character idiom rather than correctness — she was→"shes'" and crewed→"crew" (yrstruly's dialect), "finger of pinkie"/"one prayed" (Marathe/Fortier gallicisms), till→"til" (Tennessee dialect passage) — final-stage revision deepened the voice-register errors, direct composition-side support for reading the text's "errors" as voiced. The dropped-list mass adds the complementary pattern: the galley→print direction on those 58 rows is uniformly SUBTRACTIVE (intensifiers, adverbs, over-specifications trimmed; five whole sentences cut, incl. the p. 1047 Hal-found-the-body confirmation and the p. 855 acid-timing clause). 14 substitution/addition lines carry capture-layer FLAGs from the fold, plus 6 dropped-list rows flagged at the re-derivation (pp. 67, 329, 440, 453, 802, 1077 — black-text words disagreeing with our print; transcription slips or 1997-corrections drift); none affects a decode direction.
