• What: Pemulis (with Axford) runs E.T.A.'s clean-urine business — collecting the urine of sub-ten-year-olds (little Kent Blott salvages discarded Visine bottles from the tunnels "for Mike Pemulis's next contest," scene 129) and selling it by the cc against the academy's O.N.A.N.T.A.-mandated quarterly "Urines" — alongside selling "small-time drugs of distinguished potency," including "Ziplocs of Humboldt County hydroponic marijuana that Pemulis occasionally scored via FedEx from his mercantile counterpart at the Rolling Hills Academy" (scene 160). His entrepreneurial vim "has earned him complete freedom of choice and expense" gear-wise. He runs an anti-entrapment protocol ("Please commit a crime" / "Gracious me and mine, a crime you say?") before any deal. In scene 114 he works the devout-Muslim thirteen-year-old Idris Arslanian for a fresh clean-urine supply ("I'm wondering if you had any specific plans for this urine you're so anxious to get rid of, Ars"). This machinery is what the Eschaton urine-crisis (events 17-18) threatens and what he must defend to save the DMZ plan.
