Context
Irony as JOI's weapon and symptom in a single origin-image. Found Drama — the elaborate ironic hoax built to punish the critical establishment (n.145) — and anticonfluentialism both come out of this one night of "sloppy-blotto and depressed" wounded sincerity, JOI stung to the quick at being called plotless and unengaging. The most defended, most weaponized ironic gambit in his whole arc is conceived at the exact moment he is least defended: drunk, hurt, and craving to be found entertaining. That's the arc's germ — the ironist's armor forged directly out of the wound it exists to hide, the weapon and the symptom the same act.
