The no-Whys axiom rendered as its own mordant artifact: an ironist who "decamped back Out There" carved the Program's real Prime Directive into a commode seat with a boot-knife — and the doggerel, for all its sneer, states the authoritarian truth exactly. The scene calls the root axiom "almost classically authoritarian, maybe even proto-Fascist" and then lets an apostate's mockery deliver it perfectly, which is the theme's darkest joke: the ironist fled and (the engraving's very survival implies) died Out There, while the crude commandment he mocked is what keeps the obedient alive.
