• What: A self-blindfolded, disoriented Idris Arslanian collides with Schacht, who identifies himself ("It's Ted Schacht, Id.") and orients him — explaining that Anton Doucette is inside weeping through a clinical depression while Lyle tries to buck him up and some of the crueler guys watch like it's a show, which is why Schacht has left: he did his sets and is gone. Pemulis, taking over the guiding, later invokes the annular-chemotherapy cancer-cell poster on Schacht's wall. The scene is the reconfigured temperament (event 5) applied outward: pain, his own or anyone's, is not entertainment.
