The Bernadette leaflet on the homeward bus — which Freer sleeps through

• When: night of 6-7 November YDAU, on the squad bus home from Port Washington (in at ~0030)
• What: As camaraderie warms the bus home from the P.W.T.A. rout, someone passes around a Gothic-fonted leaflet "offering the kingdom of prehistoric England to the man who could pull Keith Freer out of Bernadette Longley" — the September scandal (event 6) made public sport. Freer is passive and absent inside his own humiliation: he is deeply asleep the whole time. Bernadette is not — when the leaflet reaches the front half where the females now must sit, she buries her face and flushes to the back of her neck, and her doubles partner storms back to tell Struck and Pemulis that somebody on the bus is sadly immature. The scandal's cost lands entirely on her.
