Pemulis in the locker room, explaining annular fusion's waste-geography to the voluntarily blindfolded Idris Arslanian — who can't see, so the whole continental system has to be delivered as a figure to "just picture": a "pseudocartographic" triangle drawn on the mind's eye over erased places ("what used to be Montpelier in what used to be Vermont"). And the lecture lands where Pemulis's geography always lands — a recruiting pitch for "the old Eschaton map," the real territory's crisis instantly reconverted into the game's playable one.
