Dawn drills under Schtitt's nest
Sometimes from the courts you can see him leaning over the railing, tapping the edge of the bullhorn with his weatherman’s pointer; from the West and Center Courts the rising sun behind him gives his white head a pinkish corona. When he’s seated you just see misshapen smoke-rings coming up out of the nest and moving off with the wind.
Context
The catalogued Light & halation sighting: Schtitt up in his "little observational crow's nest" at the end of the iron transom, backlit by the rising sun so that his white head takes a "pinkish corona" — the drill- master haloed by dawn for the players squinting up from the courts, and when the halo's source sits down all that's left of him is smoke. Carlisle catalogues the corona and cross-refs n.76's "halo of approved grace" (the Moms conferring Hal's "pale sweet aura" — n076 and its 057 anchor); the pattern is authority rendered as a light-effect seen from below.
