Hal and Mario in the dark

The screen's catch is Mario's line, and its placement is the sighting: Hal has just capped his taxonomy of liars with Pemulis at the urinal — "His face was a brass mask" — and Mario, the show's one devoted listener (earlier in this raw he's found somebody with tapes of old Psychosis, "for until the return"), answers with MP's radio reading of an Eve Arden beauty brochure: "The importance of a mask is to increase your circulation." A veiled radio personality quoting a celluloid-era beauty icon on the usefulness of masks, recalled verbatim by the one Incandenza who can't lie, in a conversation about faces that give nothing away — the raw supplies no comment, just the juxtaposition; Hal talks straight past it. Dialogue-only scene; the line is Mario's, quoted without its enclosing dialogue marks per convention.
