Mario's Bolex walk and Avril on sadness — "Is this you passing through the…"

Avril's first move is to establish which channel they're on — visit or footage, mother or "subject" (her gloss when he accepts: "So you’re just strolling. Peripatetic footage."). And Mario manages the channel explicitly for the rest of the scene: "‘This is off.’ Pointing at his head. ‘I turned it off.’" before the conversation turns personal, and again — "‘This is off,’ again indicating the silent apparatus on his head" — before asking how you can tell somebody's sad. Camera state as conversational contract: the scene's tenderest exchange is licensed by the declared silence of the apparatus.
