he’ll modulate and scramble the vendors’ and customers’ faces into undulating systems of flesh-colored squares, by means of his late father’s reconfigururing matte-panel in the editing room
Context
Mario works the dead father's editing room. Making his own strange little "Himself-influenced conceptual cartridges," he scrambles faces into flesh-colored squares using "his late father's reconfigururing matte-panel," down in the late founder's f/x facilities off the tunnel. The son inherits not just the father's aesthetic (the cartridges are Himself-influenced) but his literal apparatus, still humming in the room he left — the same continuity scene 172 names when Pemulis says "me using the poor guy's lab." Mario is the son who took up the father's instruments and made them his own, without grievance.
