Endnote 301 — why master cartridges are hard to copy
Explains the anti-piracy design of InterLace cartridges. Drawing on old copyright suits, Noreen Lace-Forché had all consumer cartridges built "Read-Only" (p. 1054); duplicable Master cartridges need special OS-codes, special hardware, and licenses for both, and she even rigged Masters to run at "585 r.p.m." rather than a consumer drive's 450 — a barrier only someone with money and motive can clear.
