Marathe in the Ennet House waiting room (p. 733)

quote

Marathe kept his hands calmly in his lap, his machine pistol holstered securely to his right stump beneath the blanket.

Context

While Selwyn leans into his face whispering about metal people, Marathe sits armed — the stump itself is the holster, the lap-blanket the armory door. The A.F.R. runs on this all book long; here it's at its most intimate: the wound literally carries the gun.
