The same scene sets up the End-of-Fiscal-Year fundraising exhibition in which E.T.A.'s squads (Wayne and Hal at the top) will "vivisect" Québec's hapless Jr. Davis and Jr. Wightman Cup squads for the amusement of patrons — an event arranged "via the good expatriate offices of Avril Incandenza." Wayne being asked "to publicly smear a second Québecer in two days" is flagged in-text as "a bit much" — a small note on the awkwardness of the exile playing his home country for sport.
