The 5 Nov call: Orin extracts the suicide account for the Moment profile

What: The frame in which events 13-14 are told: Orin phones — ostensibly social — but is really fishing for family background because "I've got somebody from Moment fucking magazine out here doing a quote soft profile" (Helen Steeply) that's shaping into a memorial to JOI. Orin probes for suicide details ("who found him at the oven?"), forcing Hal's disclosures. Throughout, Hal compulsively shoots toenail clippings into a distant wastebasket, guards the "can't-miss" magic, and lies to Orin about it ("Orin I lied. I haven't even started on the right foot yet"), ending by holding the phone to his foot. Establishes the Steeply/Moment engine driving Orin's YDAU calls and Hal's continued deceit.
