When: after Fackelmann's death, when Kite returned "from his long highatus" to divvy Fax's effects
What: With Fackelmann's map "presumably eliminated for keeps," Gately and Kite gathered his things and found, taped under his porn-cartridge storage case, "over $22,000 in mint-crisp O.N.A.N. currency" — the emergency skeet-payment reserve Fackelmann had kept unspent by iron will "for just such a worst-case possibility." Gately split it with Kite, then turned his own half in to Sorkin (claiming it was all they'd found) — not out of fear but out of guilt at having been clueless, and to console the betrayed, bedridden Sorkin, and for Fackelmann's memory, mourning him even as he "cursed him for a liar and rat-punk."
