The commentary is tangent-heavy (The Departed, DiCaprio, a long hunt for the Bible's last verse) but carries three ledgerable items: Hal's blank non-reaction to knowing about Avril and John Wayne read as the first true sign that Hal is unwell — ahead of the OED memorization, the weed, or the smelled-delicious scene — with his naked contempt for Orin noted as unconnected (by Hal) to what Avril likely did to Orin; a live timing check on the return of Hal's first person (the inner-child meeting is verified third-person on-air; the I begins around the blizzard-day waking — supporting weed-cessation over DMZ-dosing as the trigger) folded into the full DMZ triad (childhood mold, withdrawal, and Pemulis's missing stash with his dosing capability and motive noted); and an instruction-manual-vs-entertainment reading of the porn-advice material with the observation that the instructor tells on himself. • Mikey registered as a striking late move: a brand-new character carrying what looks like a one-off AA spiel twenty pages from the end (the spring-loaded-temper-while-sober material) — the hosts mostly let the spiel stand, played in a Departed-fueled Boston voice.
