At 0015h., 2 April, the medical attaché’s wife is just leaving the Mount Auburn Total Fitness Center […] The medical attaché, at their apartment, is still viewing the unlabelled cartridge, which he has rewound to the beginning several times and then configured for a recursive loop. He sits there, attached to a congealed supper, watching, at 0020h., having now wet both his pants and the special recliner.
Context
The third beat of the attaché countdown, and the whole scene is built on two clock-pulses: 0015h. the wife leaves the club, 0020h. the husband is still in the chair, five minutes of the Entertainment's real time ticked off in the prose's own dateline machinery. The military-time stamps are what let the book run her evening and his dying simultaneously — clock-architecture as form. (Binding exclusion: the pulse-serial is a formal device, so 014 carries no time-perception tag; this is a motif sighting only.)
