Port Washington: sweating magnificently under the winter Lung

The campus as a purpose-built body-machine, seen at its most convivial: Inflation Day, the Lung raised over sixteen courts by helicopter and Gore-Tex, and then the upperclassmen "play all night, sweating magnificently, sheltered for the winter atop Enfield's level-headed hill." The whole architecture — the igloo of warmed air, the infrareds like little square suns — exists to keep the bodies drilling through the New England winter. Even the academy's one night of communal fun is organized around sweat; the institution's affection for its players is expressed as shelter for their labor.
