Hal supine: Accomplice!, the blizzard, Weston (p. 947)
An unwelcome old acquaintance was back, a striking woman with black bangs and vivid lipstick said, smiling somberly.
Context
An InterLace anchorwoman's canned line about the blizzard, whose satellite signature is near-identical to the '98 storm's. Carlisle reads the returning storm as the chapter's figure for returning memory — the "unwelcome old acquaintance" applying to Hal's Weston material, with cartridge and memory running as the scene's two media of haunting. Carlisle's reading, recorded not adopted.
