Context
The one bare "remembers" in the scene's final movement: mid-flashback, the narration's tense flickers to present-tense recall — a two-word reminder that all of this is being performed live in a hospital bed as Abiding. After the bus-knot, even this small frame-verb is suspect currency, which is what makes it worth filing.
