Context
Carlisle's Birds-motif sighting: Orin's descent in fake-red-feathered costume "recalls the dead bird that fell in his Jacuzzi" (012, p. 44) — Orin becoming the falling bird he'd taken for an omen. Note the "recall" is the reader's, an image-echo across sixty pages; nothing in the scene's own text mentions the Jacuzzi bird. Carlisle's reading, recorded not adopted.
