Context
Morning of the blizzard, 20 Nov: Hal supine on Viewing Room 5's shag, Pemulis (secretly expelled, though Hal doesn't know it) leaning in to interface about the DMZ. In scene 073 Pemulis screamed that the snow was falling on the map, not the territory; now real snow has buried the real courts and his shorthand for the world itself is "the map" — the distinction he defended with theological fury quietly conceded in casual speech. Hal's comeback does the idiom one better: refusing the DMZ, he turns "the map being a mess" inward, onto the state of his own head. The Eschaton thread closed in two lines of dialogue.
