All right, I’ll relate one antidote that might be more revealing of the Moms’s emotional weather than any adjective. Jesus, see, I start explicitly referring to parts of speech just thinking about the whole thing.
Context
The theme folded into a single sentence: Orin commits a malaprop ("antidote" for anecdote) in the same breath as he frames his answer grammatically ("than any adjective") and then catches himself thinking in parts of speech again. And the text itself joins the policing — the note's own sub-footnote to "antidote" reads, in full: "b. sic." DFW sic-ing his own character is the Militant Grammarian ethos built into the apparatus.
