Context
The Militant Grammarians thread's anchor entry, and Avril's only explicit appearance in her husband's filmography: a real-world linguist (Pinker, descriptivism's public face) debating Avril on "the political implications of prescriptive grammar," at an M.G.M. convention infamous enough to be credited with inciting the M.I.T. language riots. Grammar as riot-grade politics is the thread's founding joke, filed deadpan in scholarly apparatus — and JOI was there filming his wife's side of the war.
