Context
Stice has been stuck facing the glass since about 0100, identifying passersby only by sound — and something stood behind him, just stood there, and left. The pronoun slide from "he" to "Or… it," plus the full-body shiver, does the haunting in three words; this is what the wraith's stillness would look like from a chair you can't turn around in. Carlisle asks, and leaves open: was it the wraith?
