Context
The title block that makes the whole section a film: everything that follows is the verbatim text of Mario's InterLace contest cartridge, so for five pages the novel's prose is a cartridge's soundtrack. Film here isn't depicted, it's the medium of the chapter — and the credit line quietly dates the entire book (Carlisle builds his full Subsidized-Time table from "ALMOST EXACTLY THREE YEARS"). The "(SIC)" is part of the printed title block.
