Context
The 32K note's one theme hit, from the termpaper-topic triage among the E.T.A. seniors: the A.F.R.'s road-mirror campaign — the theme's darkest apparatus, mirrors stretched across highways (n110's material; the ambush plan itself in 163) — circulating at the academy as a "lurid" History-of-Canadian-Unpleasantness paper topic, and it's Hal ("Inc") who's keen on it. The auteur's son drawn to the optical-weapon chapter of early-O.N.A.N. terror while Struck takes the train cult and Schacht takes fluoridation riots: the pull is noted in passing, without comment, in a note about somebody else's plagiarism. The rest of the note (the Wild Conceits essay, A.F.R. origins, le Jeu du Prochain Train) is nationalism-onan territory and stays there; the p. 1062 Phelps-and-Phelps degree-list with "Spectation" in the title is incidental per plan and skipped.
