Fackelmann, Sunshine, and the beach (pp. 976–977)
The sunlight on the floor through the window was spidered with shadows of branches. Everybody in the room’s shadows were moving around on the west wall.
Context
Light-and-shadow texture as the room fills: branch-spidered sun on the floor ("spidered" is the same participle the opening page hangs on Hal's light at 001, a catalogued H-section sighting there) and the whole entourage present a second time as moving shadows on the west wall — the gathering casting its own projected show on a flat surface while the real business assembles (the shadows-as-projection reading is ours, inferred; the raw gives the two sentences).
