Fackelmann, Sunshine, and the beach (pp. 974–975)

The flashback's dawn opens with Gately's own perception described as receiver hardware — "the vertical hold on his vision," a broadcast-TV control on a concussed sensorium — while the knocked-down teleplayer keeps dutifully showing "shots of small flames" through the whole break-in. The screen as the room's one unperturbable witness, still transmitting while the window comes in; the scene's staged-optics register is set before any of the staging starts.
