Tine’s staff had sifted through dozens of entries before deciding that the intelligence community’s terse little name for the allegedly enslaving Entertainment would be ‘the samizdat.’
Context
The christening: the state names the film after clandestine self-published print — a circulation word, not a content word, fitting a thing known only by its copies and its casualties (cf. 098's Master/Read-Only census). The same dossier notes the P.E.T. scans show "not near enough alpha to indicate hypnosis or induced dopamine-surges" — whatever the film does, it isn't a trance; the instrument of capture is attention itself.
