The dust his collapse raised was very thick, and as the new dust rose and spread it attenuated the master bedroom’s daylight as decisively as if a cloud had moved over the sun in the window. My father’s professional wig had detached and lay scalp-up in the mixture of dust and stomach material.
Context
The broadcast image disintegrating: the father vomits, faints, breaks the bed frame, and the "professional wig" — the Man from Glad's rigid white hair — ends scalp-up in dust and stomach material while the room's light attenuates like a dimming shot. The scene's slow separation of image from man completes itself on the floor.
