Endnote 20: Québec's fluorescence ban
Fluorescence has been banned in Québec, as have computerized telephone solicitations, the little ad-cards that fall out of magazines and have to be looked at to be picked up and thrown in the trash, and the mention of any religious holiday whatsoever to sell any sort of product or service, is just one reason why his volunteering to come live down here was selfless.
Context
The archive's catalogued Light-and-halation sighting for scene 016, and the note fires at the cruelest possible anchor: Guillaume DuPlessis dies gagged in his kitchen chair "under cold fluorescent kitchen lights, [n.20]" — the anti-O.N.A.N. coordinator suffocating under the lighting his own nation has outlawed, which is part of why coming south was "selfless." The ban list is a little attention-ecology manifesto (ad-cards that "have to be looked at to be picked up"), and it's the statutory basis for the fluorescence-aversion Canadian tell that 147's sighting assembles (Fortier, Mario, Tavis [n.244], Avril [p. 898]).
