The Entertainment as laboratory instrument: Broullîme's "field-tests of viewer willingness" run captive subjects against the cartridge and price continued spectation in severed digits — and the first subject (a white-wigged street man with foreign cookware; the second a weakened man "dressed in the clothing of a gauche woman" with multiple purses) games the protocol by paying with the other subject's fingers. The scene-gist's identifications (Lenz, Poor Tony) are the splitter's wardrobe inference; the raw names neither. Spectation quantified: the film's pull measured in what a viewer will amputate to keep watching.
