Wayne's stimulant-fueled rant over the school PA is the family's whole manipulation-DNA turned inside out for everyone to hear. He does a devastating impression of Tavis running an "I-live-in-fear-of-rejection" seduction — a performance of total openness deployed purely as a strategy — which Pemulis recognizes as being, chillingly, "in the top five or ten of the troubling 'Strategies' that Inc's brother Orin the punter called up to Hal about employing to X young married women." Tavis's pathological openness, Orin's seduction Strategies, the family's whole pose-of-poselessness exposed as one inherited technique. And Wayne — the imported prodigy, Avril's lover, the surrogate son — turns on the dead king himself, broadcasting that the late Founder and husband of the Dean was "so full of himself he could have shit limbs." The ghost-father publicly desecrated by the man in his marriage bed, the whole sealed system's contents blared across the Academy in one dosed, uncontrollable voice.
