Lenz's coked walking monologue at Green (p. 559)
Green, lighting both their smokes, says he either doesn’t remember his dreams or doesn’t dream.
Context
Green's entire contribution to the dream-exchange, and one of his longest reported utterances of the night. Against Lenz's two performed "recurving" dreams, the broken-by-life man who lights both their cigarettes has nothing: no dreams, or no access to them. Promoted from the batch's texture call because it's the first panel of a triptych — scene 124 shows Green crying out from R.E.M. nightmares in quoted detail three nights later, and 161 reports them still running. He dreams, all right; he just can't bring any of it back across.
