Mario sits on the low little van der Rohe–knockoff coffee table with bowed legs (the table) with his head cocked right up next the speaker and his claws in his lap. His toes tend to point inward when he sits.
Context
The circular's most natural addressee is its most devoted listener: claws in lap, hunched at the woofer. The scene never connects Mario's body to the litany naming bodies like his — he just finds the show "terribly compelling" — and that withheld connection is the tenderest thing in it.
