Context
The organization named for the first time in the book, deadpan, from the rooftop of a building shaped like a brain: a 12-step fellowship for the "aesthetically challenged." Carlisle appends the pun that unlocks the acronym — U.H.I.D. = "you hid." ("Oblangated" as written; the Union's anatomy runs on coinages.)
