Context
Day's operations catalog, with its comically redundant astonishment — "legless… although legless and confined to wheelchairs, nevertheless" — doing the theme's work by accident: the scholarly voice simply cannot process capability and leglessness in the same clause. The politics of the list belongs to nationalism-onan; what belongs here is the tic, the assumption of incapacity the A.F.R. exploit every time they roll up a ramp.
