Low-Temperature Civics: JOI's stand-in actor plays a father who meets Death — played by 'Madame Psychosis,' i.e. Joelle — and is left "irreversibly catatonic" while his sons scheme around the husk. Total affectless shutdown as the endpoint of an "ecstatic encounter," and a queasy self-portrait given who's playing Death.
