They would place a large mirror in the deserted road and delude the tennis bus that it must leave the road to avoid impact; its own headlights would delude it. An old F.L.Q. trick.
Context
19 Nov YDAU, the AFR van rolling toward Québec's junior squad. The weapon is a mirror: the bus is destroyed by its own light coming back at it. Destruction by self-reflection is the Entertainment's whole mechanism in miniature — and the image returns, devastatingly, in the novel's final sentences (p. 981).
