Endnote 303 — why the searchers knew the Master was gone
Broullîme and Fortier had already given up hope of finding the Master cartridge at the Antitoi shop the moment they saw the brothers alert: even those dim brothers would have noticed a Master's unique case and larger size, set it aside, arranged the special 585-r.p.m. hardware to check its value, and so been "already lost" (p. 1055).
