Sloppy-blotto and despairing that even the avant-garde journals faulted his commercial work for having no plot, JOI emerges from the sauna to Lyle; out of that night come both his signature doctrines — anticonfluentialism (a non-narrative, "movement toward stasis" aesthetic) and "Found Drama." Only Mario and Joelle know the two were born together, a measure of how private the core of the art was.
