Orin's "technical interview" under the glass tumbler — "Where Is The Master Buried"

• What: The Orin operation consummates: he wakes drugged inside a custom cage-sized inverted glass tumbler (his roach-torture ritual returned upon himself), watched from outside by the "Swiss hand-model" Subject (now revealed A.F.R.) and "the shy and handicapped fan" who shared her accent (unnamed in the scene; Fortier's attendance at this Phoenix "conducting" is set up at scene 163). The tumbler holds absolutely — CO2 fog on the glass, "the leg's foot" possibly broken from kicking it. An amplified voice periodically demands "Where Is The Master Buried" — the A.F.R.'s entire campaign compressed into one question, presuming the duplicable Master lies interred with the dead auteur (the open crux of events 11/15). Mlle. Luria P—— disdains the staged theatrics (she'd lobbied for rubber gloves and three minutes with the Subject's testicles) and has accurately predicted Orin's breaking-point: when the vent slides back and sewer roaches pour in, he splays white-faced against the glass shrieking "Do it to her! Do it to her!" — whom "her" denotes is left open. This is the last A.F.R. beat in the novel; whether Orin answers, and whether the threatened E.T.A. gala-raid follows, are core open lines at the novel's Full Stop.
