• What: The embossed-smile cases Marathe sees in Pat's cabinet are "donie-cartridges" that a resident (Clenette H.) carried down from Enfield Tennis Academy — provenance pointing straight up the hill to the Incandenzas' own stock, feeding the buried-Master question (events 11, 17). Staffer Johnette Foltz is assigned to screen them on her Dream-Duty teleputer after lights-out ("No skin, no substances, light drinking only") — i.e. the possible samizdat is one casual screening away from a room of recovering addicts, processed through the House's gentlest routine. The dramatic-irony summit of the A.F.R. thread: the cell is turning over a Cambridge shop and canvassing halfway houses for a Master that may be sitting, unrecognized, in a charity cabinet three miles from its own headquarters — and one Incandenza hillside from the performer.
