• What: Watson is one of E.T.A.'s prorectors, and with Tony Nwangi he owns the youngest players: in the Big Buddy System exposition, part of a Big Buddy's brief is to "act as liaison with Tony Nwangi and Tex Watson and the other prorectors specializing in little kids" — and since Big Buddies are asked to keep the prorectors "generally informed" about which charges seem shaky in resolve, homesickness, or capacity for suffering, Watson sits at the receiving end of the Academy's early-warning system for its littlest kids. The kids themselves file him under the enemy: in Hal's Big Buddy session, when Hal argues that nothing brings you together like a common enemy, the litany of enemies one Little Buddy recites runs "DeLint. Watson. Nwangi. Thode. All Schtitt's henchmen and henchwomen." — at which Kent Blott cries out "I hate them!" (The litany line itself is unattributed; only the "I hate them!" is Blott's.)
