• What: Pat handles the newcomer unlike any other. She counsels Joelle personally under some sort of privately directed arrangement; the girl carries inordinate immediate weight and pet-status with Pat, who is already making noises about exempting her from the mandatory menial job — and, in what Gately rates an incredible move, Pat asks him at like 1800h to blast down to the Purity Supreme for eggs and peppers so the two new delicate-tummied newcomers can cook for themselves, plus a weird Big Red Soda Water tonic for the still-dehydrated girl specifically. To Gately this is exactly the special-uniqueness claim the House exists to break down, and he has long since quit trying to figure Pat Montesian out.
