• What: Once sober, Pat remarried — a different and older South Shore trillionaire with what sounded like psychotic kids. The husband (called "Mars" to her face, "Mr. M." by Staff) is her shadowy counterpart: something like ten years sober himself and big into cars, a fixture of the mint-reconditioned-sports-car network around Boston — the reason her priceless black 1964 Ford Aventura exists. They live down on the South Shore in Milton, far enough from Enfield that the House's after-hours crises reach her only by phone (events 10, 14). The marriage's home life is, as events 17 and 20 show, its own slow-motion disaster.
