• What: Under Cardinal front-office pressure Orin submits to a "soft profile" by "Helen Steeply" of Moment magazine — in fact Hugh Steeply of U.S.O.U.S. in field-drag, "assigned to cultivate… the alleged filmmaker's relatives and inner circles." The intended memorial-to-the-patriarch angle drags Orin back toward the family linen he's spent years disowning (hence the calls to Hal). Orin — the serial seducer — is himself smitten, discovering "levels and dimensions" to Steeply, flirting helplessly ("It's like I can't help it. Is this just good journalism, Helen?").
