Clipperton's suicide at E.T.A. — Mario admits him and records it

• When: Year of the Whopper (2002), a rainy warm late morning, two days before the Continental Jr. Clay-Courts.
• What: After the O.N.A.N.T.A. computer mistakenly ranked Clipperton #1, he appears in psychic ruin at the E.T.A. portcullis; Mario sways down, interfaces with him through the bars, and personally requests his admission under a nonplay codicil, speaking up the chain to Lateral Alice Moore, prorector Cantrell, and the Headmaster. JOI admits him; in a Subdorm C room JOI requires a Mario-borrowed head-clamped Bolex H128 to record the crisis-conversation — during which Clipperton puts a Glock to his temple and kills himself. Mario has never spoken of what he sat in on, "not even at night to Hal."
